Ikano, the financial services and retail loyalty specialist, is officially one of the best companies in the UK to work for, with the business ranking 65th in the 2013 Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For listing

The business, which employs 250 people at its head office in Nottingham, was recognised in the Medium Sized Companies category and has further improved on its position in the ranking last year, where it was named ‘One to Watch’.

In addition to the ranking, where Ikano scored highly for its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the business was shortlisted for the Best Innovation for Engagement Award, finishing in the joint runner up position.

The ranking, which is compiled by surveying over 250,000 employees from 900 competing organisations, recognises Ikano’s ongoing commitment to the development of its co-workers. The company places its values at the heart of the business. Co-workers are encouraged to develop their careers while working in an engaging and open environment. Fun events are run to stimulate staff to challenge the status quo, develop new ideas and contribute to the running of the business. Engagement Champions enable these ideas to be communicated across all levels of the company and staff are able to give their opinions through surveys and forums.

Ikano is also recognised for its considerable contributions to the community, with its sponsorship of Nottingham’s annual Robin Hood Marathon, its partnership with Nottingham Academy and the Broadway media centre, and the active charity work it undertakes with organisations such as Rainbows Children’s hospice.

Stephen Burnside, managing director at Ikano, said:

“We are delighted to have moved up the rankings this year, as it recognises the ongoing commitment we have made to our people and the value we place on our work in the wider community.

“Our business success and is directly related to our company values and the wellbeing and positive motivation of our co-workers.”
