Local pupil designs official T-shirt for the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon

Six year old Al Ameen Mohammed, a pupil at John Clifford School in Beeston, has been announced as the winner of a competition to design the official T-shirt for the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon.

The excited competition winner was presented with an engraved trophy plus £100 for his school’s art department at a celebratory assembly on Thursday 19th July. Al Ameen’s design will be printed on the official Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon T-Shirt, worn by all entrants at the 1.5km race on 30th September 2012.

Vivienne Saunders, Ikano Financial Services Communications Manager, says: “We were delighted that so many local children of all ages entered the competition. It was a pleasure to look through all the entries and we loved Al Ameen’s drawing instantly because it captures the excitement of the race perfectly. The Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon encourages people to run, walk or jog a 1.5 mile course so everyone can be part of the race and experience the buzz!”

The entry fee for the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon is £6.75 and includes the T-shirt featuring Al Ameen’s design. Every participant will also have access to race day photographs, receive a medal and be able to download a finisher’s certificate as a record of their achievements.

The Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon will also feature the Schools Challenge, open to all schools in the surrounding area. All children of school age who enter the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon are automatically entered into the Schools Challenge. Age categories are U15, U13, U11, U9 and U7 for boys and girls, with the fastest three girls and boys winning prizes for their schools, including vouchers for sports equipment.
